China launched on Monday a new think tank devoted to climate change. The first item on the agenda of the National Climate Change Strategy Research and International Cooperation Center (NCSC) is  the country's carbon  trading  system.

China Daily reported that the NCSC will "provide policy decision-making support for climate change negotiations, advise on low-carbon economic development and cooperate internationally in this area."

Last December, a panel discussion held at the climate change negotiations in Durban, South Africa, provided more details about the NCSC and its importance. Read about the side event here.
